Smilefast Orthodontics

It is never too late to get the smile of your dreams and Smilefast braces could provide you with beautifully straight teeth. Treatment is fast, effective and affordable. Your teeth could be transformed in just six to nine months, compared with conventional braces where treatment can take up to three years.

What is Smilefast?

Smilefast is a short-term, cosmetically oriented fixed brace system specifically designed for adults. This system is based on sound orthodontic principles producing proven and predictable results. Computer-aided simulation and digital direct bonding allows our dentist to precisely attach clear brackets and to configure the tooth coloured wires, without the trials and with fewer  adjustments required by traditional braces. Once fitted, Smilefast will achieve similar cosmetic  results as traditional braces in a matter of months. The clear brackets attached to your teeth will not discolour during treatment, so your braces should remain as unobtrusive as the day they are fitted. Treatment is precise, fast and discreet.

Who can have Smilefast?

This orthodontic system is suitable for most adults looking to improve the appearance of their teeth in a way that is highly accessible and affordable. Smilefast can treat problems with overcrowded or incorrectly spaced teeth, or with teeth that are too protrusive. It can also be used to correct an overbite or underbite. It isn't designed to correct extensive bite problems, instead concentrating on enhancing the appearance of your smile.

See your new smile before you buy

One of the things that concerns people contemplating orthodontic treatment is how their new smile will look. With Smilefast this isn't a concern. Smilefast uses advanced 3D imaging to determine exactly where each bracket will be placed. The same technology provides virtual images showing how treatment will progress and the anticipated  end result. You will get the chance to preview these images here at Bay Family Dental.

How does it work?

When you come to see us, we will take photos and will  take impressions of your mouth - Using the 3D images they produce, our dentist will plan exactly how each tooth will move during your treatment, so the final results are very precise. This creates a treatment plan which is used by Smilefast to create specialised impression trays that are custom-made to fit over your teeth. These trays position each bracket during fitting, ensuring every bracket is placed exactly where it is needed to create your straighter smile. Using these impression trays and digital indirect bonding, our dentist will fit the brackets onto your teeth. Fitting is extremely easy and precise and you will be smiling in no time!

What to expect during treatment

In the first couple of days after fitting, some people may find their teeth are a little more sensitive than usual, but these feelings should quickly subside. Slight discomfort is perfectly normal for all orthodontic treatments, until the teeth become accustomed to the sensation of wearing braces. During your treatment, we will need to see you approximately once a month  just to check your progress, but these appointments should be quite quick.

What to expect once your braces are removed

Once your braces are removed you will be able to enjoy your beautiful straighter new smile. To ensure your teeth stay firmly in place you will need to wear retainers that are every bit as discreet as your braces. We can provide a removable clear plastic retainer to wear over your upper teeth and our dentist will tell you how frequently this needs to be worn. Lower teeth can be retained using a very thin gold wire attached to the inner surfaces of these teeth and which will remain permanently in place, so you don't need to do a thing.
